Men's clothes in too large sizes also reigned on the streets of the most fashionable cities during the fashion weeks there. Oversize projects by Demna Gvasalia, Dries Van Noten, and Virgil Abloh responsible for the men's line of Louis Vuitton, clearly dominated the trends of recent months.
However, the oversize style is not just about big puffy jackets, wide trousers and loose T-shirts, which are most obviously associated with streetwear aesthetics. Dries Van Noten, Giorgio Armani, Raf Simons, and the designers of the fashion house Maison Margiela, clearly refer to the unforgettable style of the 80s when Richard Gere stole women's hearts in an oversized suit he wore in the film "American Gigolo".
Armani was one of the first who decided to renew his famous design and last year's catwalk presented a jacket and trousers in an obviously too large size. Other fashion creators quickly followed suit, gradually convincing us that the oversize trend is not only the domain of women's wardrobes.
How to wear oversized clothes?
