Marine style, or sailor style, often returns to fashion just before the start of the spring-summer season. Nautical motifs from resort collections usually quickly make their way into ready-to-wear collections, and from runways they go straight to the streets of cities and holiday resorts. What nautical trends will we be wearing this season?

Marine style, or you need blue right away

The naval trend immediately brings to mind the color navy, which most often appears in combination with white. The proportions can vary, but this very palette dominates in naval uniforms of almost every national fleet. Therefore, it's no wonder that the sailor style is back in fashion this year, when Pantone announced that the leading color for 2020 will be a dark, deep ocean shade of Classic Blue.

Along with it, all shades described as "aqua" have come back into fashion. Sea-like, soothing, helping to focus and untangle scattered thoughts. Shades of blue stormed all the runways for spring and summer, and we should enjoy them, as autumn is drawing in very dark colors, as was the case on the Balenciaga and Valentino runways. Marine blue is a fashion classic, so it's high time to replenish its lack in the wardrobe.

Sailor style? Stripes in every version!

What else is associated with the sailor style? Of course, stripes! White and navy, but sometimes white and black. Marine style is stripes in every form and almost in every version. Narrow, wide, vertical and horizontal, on blouses, dresses, shirts and trousers. Stripes blend perfectly with the white elements of the outfit. When you put on a striped sweater, pair it with white trousers, and when you decide on striped trousers, combine them with a white, linen shirt. Creating sets in the marine style is simple and does not require complicated decisions and searching for matching elements. After all, it's all about relaxation, also from how to compose your everyday outfit.

Collars and jackets, or from sea to land

What else fits into the sailor trend? These are also all kinds of collars, which the sailor style breaks with a fair dose of romanticism. Although very fashionable this season, pointed and oversized collars draw inspiration from such classics as "Wuthering Heights" or Mr. Darcy's wardrobe, the collar has always been associated with the sea and naval clothing.

Therefore, you can safely combine these two trends and create a romantic outfit in a sailor style. A classic shirt with a large collar, or perhaps a disco-style shirt (the 70s are after all another trend this year!), or maybe a collar with embroidery and ornaments, which you will combine with stripes on a sweater, trousers, or summer shorts? All tricks are allowed!

You can't forget about jackets either, because they get their name from marine style. What jackets are we wearing this spring and summer? Those short ones with decorative, baroque buttons, of course in shades of navy. It is worth reaching for the most stylish ones, which will be perfect for the evening or formal summer occasions. Who said that sailor style cannot be the essence of an elegant outfit? Navy is after all the color of elegance, so feel free to reach for elements that will work equally well in both daily and evening sets.
